Travel
The subway system is a convenient means of transportation for traveling within Lisbon and to reach IST-Alameda. The closest subway stations are Alameda (Green and Red lines), on the Eastern side, and Saldanha (Yellow and Red lines), on the western side. See map below or click here for network diagram.
Since 2012, the subway connects the airport directly to the city center. From the airport, IST can be easily reached by taking the red line to Alameda station. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for less than 10€.
If you prefer to travel by train, Lisbon is served by two stations where international trains stop. The older Estação de Santa Apolónia is located close to downtown, while Gare do Oriente is located in the eastern and more modern part of the city. They are both connected to the subway system.
